If you've ever imagined what NYC might look like from space, then this video is for you. Model train sets and doll houses come to mind. Cars look like matchbox toys, people scurry around like ants in this surreal footage by Sam O'Hare. Utilizing the tilt-shift photography and time-lapse technique, O'Hare a miniature world he named "The Sandpit." It began with over 35,000 pictures taken over one weekend in various places in New York City. The final video includes images of tour boats leaving a dock, visitors walking in and out of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, people walking along the High Line, views of building rooftops, traffic careening past Madison Square Park and along the West Side Highway as well as a series of interesting images of construction. Building Collector reader Howie G. sent me this tip. If you see something which might be of interest or inspiration to souvenir building collectors, send it to me and I'll post it here.
