Recently, I wrote about a visit to Buffalo, N.Y. and some
interesting architecture there. While at the M&T Bank building, formerly
the Buffalo Savings Bank, I saw an exhibit of antique coin and mechanical
banks. I took photos of those that had an architectural theme. Banks on display
included: Organ Grinder and Dancing Bear, Wireless bank, Novelty Bank, Panorama
Bank, Statue of Liberty bank, and a Lighthouse cast iron bank. The Mechanical Bank Collectors of America (MBCA) is a good resource for these types of cast iron
banks. Previously, I wrote about the architecture and souvenir replicas of the
Buffalo Savings Bank.
